I hope one day I can love the way you love me.
-Paige
Watched The Vow earlier and being a lover of all things girly, especially chick flicks, I must admit that I enjoyed watching it. And, yes, there were many times when I found myself close to crying.
Moments of IMPACT. They shape you. They make you who you are. And the movie made me think about this.
Leo: Life’s all about moments, of impact and how they changes our lives forever. But what if one day you could no longer remember any of them?
What if one day you wake up and you don’t remember the life you led or the moments of impact that shaped you? Everything changes. Life changes. You change. It is this way because we are who we are because of our experiences.
With that said, the movie was inspiring. Despite this being the case for Paige, she still found a way back to herself and to the true love of her life.
His love was bordering insane, to the point that my heart bled for him when she looked at him void of emotions, with nothing more than seeing a stranger in front of her. If I were part of this fictional movie and I were one of his fictional friends, I’d scream and say “honey please move on…please don’t let your heart break that way…”
I say this because it is exactly how I am. When I know it isn’t right and love isn’t there, I move on. I forget. But I guess watching this man love the way he did gave me another perspective. In his eyes, she was still the Paige he married, the Paige he loved, the Paige he fell in love with.
And what was amazing about it for a girl like me is to know that there is a man out there who can love so unconditionally, to the point that he can give way and walk away…
Leo: How do you look at the woman you love, and tell yourself that its time to walk away?
And he did exactly that. Did he ever love again? While she was gone, no. But in some magical way, as most chick flicks showcase, she found her way back to THEIR love. And that was it.
The cafe. Snow. Paige and Leo. A date. The beginning, the beginning of something BEAUTIFUL again.
I guess it’s true, when you find something so beautiful and pure… something that cannot be compared to anything else, that love is definitely worth keeping and fighting for. And though love in reality doesn’t just include three steps. Love isn’t just about falling in love, ending up together, and the happily ever part. It takes so many other forms that movies don’t clearly show. Maybe here it is shown. But these forms actually are the substantial components of love. Attraction. Falling in love. Reciprocating or the opposite. Falling out of love. Making mistakes. Hating. And the list goes on.
In reality, these different forms, these different stages you go through, these different emotions that invade you and your being are what amounts to what kind of love you both have.
Couples who are able to overcome all these forms and stages are the ones who are built to last, who are built to love each other forever.
Paige: I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.
Leo: I vow to fiercely love you in all your forms, now and forever. I promise to never forget that this is a once in a lifetime love.
To fiercely love someone in all his or her forms, now and forever.
Now that’s something we all, admittedly or not, hope for.
